LUKE ESHLEMAN | ASSOCIATE/STAFF PASTOR

Luke works under and alongside Rev Que to support the administrative and pastoral needs of the church, as well as teaching and preaching. Before joining staff, Luke served as both a Deacon and an Elder at Sowebo, and has been a member of the church for over a decade.

Before entering pastoral ministry, Luke worked as a full-time photographer and stay-at-home dad. Born and raised in Annville, Pennsylvania (just east of Hershey), he and his wife (Kim) relocated to Baltimore in 2010. They have lived in the Pigtown neighborhood for the past 16 years. Luke is passionate about finding ways to worship and serve alongside fellow Christians from diverse theological, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.

Luke holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, with a minor in Biblical Studies from Messiah College, and a Master of Arts in Theology from St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute in Baltimore. His graduate thesis, entitled "Divine Power and the Essence-Energies Distinction: Δύναμις, Participation, and Theosis in Luke-Acts and St. Gregory Palamas," explored the human reception of divine power in the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts in conversation with St Gregory Palamas, a 14th-century Byzantine monk and theologian.

In his free time, Luke enjoys traveling, hiking, exercising, photography, and reading (especially theology, philosophy, and literature). He lives in Pigtown with his wife and their three sons, aged 7, 10, and 12, who are his pride and joy.
